Volunteers must have a minimum of a High School diploma or its equivalent and attend a Tutor Training Workshop given by the professional staff of Literacy Solutions NY, Inc. Alternatively, prospective tutors can utilize our on-line training.
Each tutor is matched with a student or small group of students, all of whom have been interviewed and assessed. Students and tutors then meet once or twice a week for 1 1/2 to 2 hours a session.
Tutoring takes place in libraries throughout each county and in such special settings as Adult Basic Education Centers or Head Start Centers.
